Hello, I'm no doctor or anything, but I am 16 also. Last year I had a painful knee, so I went to the doctor to check it out. He concluded that I have a thing called 'osgood schlatter's disease', something which is common in teenage boys that exercise frequently and are growing rapidly. In most cases it's gone within a few months but can last for years. Maybe you have that and should read up about it.

I used to have the same problem. My knees would crack EVERY TIME I bent them, it never hurt it was just really unpleasant to hear them crack all the time. Just in the last month, I have started doing more leg exercises, mainly break dancing - where you spend a lot of time squatting with my knees bent. And today I will bend my legs and my knees will crack, but then they wont crack for about 5 minutes afterwards of inactivity. Which is a great improvement. So I would recommend doing some exercises that involve the knees to make them stronger because I think the problem is the knees/ligaments are not strong enough to hold the knee cap in place. And that pop you hear is your knee cap realigning. But also, you're only 13 so it might have something to do with growing.
